Dr Shafika Isaacs

Dr Isaacs is an international digital learning, AI and education specialist, community builder and professional coach. She holds a PhD from the University of Johannesburg, an MSc in Science and Technology Policy as a Mandela Scholar at the University of Sussex, and an Executive MBA with distinction at the University of Cape Town.
She has also been awarded the Woman of Stature Award, and in 2020, the award for the most outstanding doctoral thesis by the South African Education Research Association.
Dr Isaacs is an Expert Group member of UNESCO’s AI Competency Framework for teachers. As a partner via the Lewis Foundation in the Biodiversity Skills Transformation Strategy in South Africa, she provides technical support on digital policy and programme development to global and local community organisations and agencies. These include UNESCO, the Commonwealth of Learning, African Union Development Agency, ITU and UNICEF.
