Telkom today announced the appointment of Ms Ouma Rasethaba as Chief Risk Officer with immediate effect. Ms Rasethaba, who has been with Telkom since 2006, has previously held the position of Chief of Regulatory and Corporate Affairs. The appointment completes the EXCO structure under Group CEO, Mr Sipho Maseko.
"Ms Rasethaba has played a valuable role at Telkom over the years, first as Group Executive for Regulatory and Public Policy and later as Chief of Corporate Governance. Hers was not always an easy task, especially when one considers the complexity of the legal matters Telkom has had to deal with, as well as the fluidity of the regulatory environment," says Mr Maseko.
As Chief Risk Officer, Ms Rasethaba will be responsible for the overall control of Telkom’s risk management processes – the identification, assessment and response to those risks that influence Telkom achieving its objectives.
According to Mr Maseko, she will also, as she's done in the past, lead the team from Group Legal Services, which includes managing the implementation of good Corporate Governance principles. "Ms Rasethaba and her team have always done a sterling job, and I know this will continue to be the case in her new role," says Mr Maseko.
Says Ms Rasethaba: "I’m honoured by the confidence placed in my ability and look forward to finding workable solutions to the challenges we face."
