Telkom today announced the successful completion of planned maintenance work on its SAT 3 undersea cable on 19 October 2012. This is preceded by the uptime enjoyed by customers during planned maintenance earlier this month as well.
Customers have not experienced any downtime during the maintenance period which can be attributed to the various contingency plans which the Company undertook to minimise any impact to its international connectivity.
Further planned maintenance on its undersea cables will be carried out this coming weekend and Telkom is again confident that its innovative network design will automatically reroute traffic, resulting in little to no impact to its customers.
The planned maintenance will begin at 02:00 am on Saturday, 27 October and will be completed by latest 08:00 am on Saturday, 27 October.
Telkom cautions of possible increased latency during 06:00am and 08:00am on Saturday due to the normal high levels of traffic during this time period.
However Telkom is confident that its network’s self-healing capabilities and automatic traffic rerouting ability will keep any impact to a minimum.
Telkom wishes to thank customers for their patience during this time.
