Telkom's management staff will be afforded the opportunity of applying for voluntary severance (VSPs) and early retirement packages (VERPs) from 28 April until 2 July 2010.
The move is aimed at enabling Telkom to achieve its business objectives by optimising management levels and improving the competitiveness of the Company's management force while positively impacting its cost base.
JC Smit, Telkom's acting Chief of Human Resources, emphasised, that although the packages will be offered to all managers, there was no obligation on any manager to apply for a voluntary package. "The decision to apply for a package is therefore at the sole discretion of every individual Telkom manager," said Smit.
He added that voluntary severance and early retirement packages and benefits "are a confidential arrangement between Telkom and its employees".
