To decide whether you should apply for a role, review the advert, carefully assess whether you fully meet the requirements of the job and most importantly decide whether this job is aligned to your future / long term career plan and goals.
Review and update your CV to reflect and highlight your qualifications, certification, experience, and competencies aligned to the job description requirements. Apply for the job, ensuring that you answer the pre-selection questions truthfully and comprehensively and attaching your updated CV. Make certain that the answers provided in the pre-selection questions are evident in the content of your CV.
A recruiter will screen your application questions and resume looking for those skills, qualifications and other attributes that best aligns to the job description, so it is important that your resume and application questions clearly reflect a good fit to the job description.
This is a conversation with the recruiter and hiring manager designed to help us better understand your interests, experience and qualification, and it is an opportunity for you to get a deeper understanding of the role you are applying for.
The next step will be a panel interview, which could be done online or in person at one of our offices across the country. Depending on the role, you might also be asked to do a case study and psychometric evaluations. The psychometric assessment is usually done online and might assess your cognitive abilities such as logical reasoning and numerical abilities as well as your personal work styles and behaviours.
Our panel interviews are targeted selection based interviews where we identify the essential behavioural competencies required for the job and formulate questions that relay information from the candidate’s past jobs or situations where they had to demonstrate the competency. For example to determine whether a candidate is able to solve problems the following question could be asked: “Describe a work problem you’ve recently been asked to solve. What was the situation, what did you do and what was the result/ outcome?
The last step in gathering information before a final hiring decision is made is to conduct reference interviews and check your qualifications, ID etc with the respective institutions etc.
Now that we have all the pieces of the puzzle, we can make a well-rounded hiring decision in the best interest of both the company and the candidate and secure the necessary higher-level approval……. and then it is time to celebrate!
