Security Notice: Phishing email incident contained

Telkom wishes to inform our customers and stakeholders of a recently identified phishing incident. Between 06 and 12 June 2025, a Telkom employee’s account was compromised, resulting in phishing emails being sent externally from a Telkom email address with the subjects “TELKOM GROUP” or “TELKOM SA”.

Our internal cybersecurity team acted swiftly to contain the incident and prevent further distribution of phishing campaign. We have also implemented additional technical controls and initiated a full forensic investigation, supported by external cybersecurity experts.

What you need to know:

  • The phishing email may have appeared to originate from a legitimate Telkom address.
  • The incident has been fully contained and there is no evidence that sensitive information (such as financial data or identity numbers) was accessed or compromised.
  • Our systems remain operational and secure.

What you should do:
If you received an email from Telkom with the subjects “TELKOM GROUP” or “TELKOM SA”:

  • Do not open the email or click on any links.
  • Notify your IT administrator immediately.
